Do you need an unofficial English patch?
For the updated Steam version, official English support is available. The October 27, 2026 language update is part of the existing game, not a separate English-only purchase. Check Steam’s current language list rather than a July or September tutorial.

Older fan translations addressed a different situation: the original release before the official Western language update. Their existence does not make them required now, and their compatibility with the current data files should not be assumed.
How do you start an English save?
Update the game, close it, and set the intended language using Steam’s game-language selection where available. Launch it again and confirm the text before creating your save.
The official language notice says that display language is stored per save and cannot be changed through an in-game switch after launch. Changing a Steam setting should not be promised to translate a save that was already created in another language.
What if you previously installed a fan translation?
Keep a backup of saves and follow that mod author’s removal instructions before troubleshooting. Do not layer unrelated patches on top of one another. Steam’s verification tools can restore managed game files, but they should not be described as a guarantee that every extra mod file will be removed.

Does every platform have the same language package?
The publisher lists English, French, and Spanish for Western console releases, while PC has additional Asian-language support. Check your exact regional SKU. A download described as an “English patch” for a Japanese PC build should not be used as console instructions.
