How long does the story take?

In Famitsu’s developer interview, Yu Mizokami estimated roughly 60–80 hours to finish the story. He also said that completing the additional activities could take more than 100 hours. Those are developer expectations, not a measured promise for your particular playthrough.

The distinction is useful when deciding whether to begin. Seeing the credits and finishing every optional collection or achievement are different goals. The village also remains a place to spend time after the main narrative.

How should you read player-submitted estimates?

HowLongToBeat’s game entry contains crowdsourced reports. An early snapshot of that entry recorded approximately 78 hours for a main-story submission and about 118 hours with side activities. These were a small early sample, so the apparent precision should not be mistaken for a dependable average.

Start with the developer’s broad range, then compare reports from players with similar goals. A speedrun, a first playthrough, and a farm-focused save measure very different experiences.

What changes the time commitment?

Your approach Likely effect
Read dialogue and investigate the mystery More time with the story and characters
Expand farming and decorating projects More optional village days
Pursue collections and achievements Longer-term goals beyond the main route
Follow a spoiler-heavy optimized route Less discovery, with a different experience

These are planning considerations, not a formula for predicting an exact finish time.

Should you rush the opening?

Learn the systems as the game introduces them. A modest daily routine gives you room for requests and new activities. If you care about story surprises, avoid reading an entire ending route simply to save a few hours. Use a guide for the specific point where you are stuck rather than treating completion speed as the only goal.
